Temperance
Recently Lisa and I were discussing the Temperance card of Tarot; our summation, it can be a real buzz killer! This card is the Universe saying ‘Check yourself before you wreck yourself.’ It’s your Mom telling you that eating all that candy is going to give you a stomach ache, or your partner telling you that it’s 2 am, time to stop bingewatching ‘Only Murders in the Building’ because life starts at 6:30am, or when your yoga teacher tells you to slow down because your breath is shallow.
You know they are right. But that awareness, the ‘calling in’ can be so jarring. We deny, we avoid, we double down on the self-sabotage… “there’s only 2 episodes left, isn’t that what coffee is for?”
How did we get here?! How do we get out?!
For me, temperance almost always means patience. I have a psychic gift for seeing long term outcomes and possibilities, many of us do, and I so often forget that each possibility has its own unique journey and divine timing. And even though I know this eventual outcome will happen, I don’t actually know when or how it will come about.
As a culture, we’ve been trained to think that if things don’t happen quickly, than we must not be doing something right. We might get frustrated, depressed, dissapointed, or even give up on the vision.
Enter temperance. Check yourself my friend. Are you over-induling becase you stopped trusting your intuition? Are you waiting around for the perfect scenario for this dream to come true?
Instead of waiting for this possibility to arrive, prepare the way. It’s not here yet because the time’s not right, and the time’s not right because you are not ready. It’s not a checklist of items you need to get done to be ready. It’s the energy within your heart.
Live within the majesty of your heart and allow compassion and unconditional love for self and others arise. Feel the gratitude for each moment of your journey, regardless of the challenge or ease. Discover the beauty of peace and joy within every moment of your life. Through your hearts’ wisdom reaquaint yourself with all of the resources you already possess. Allow your heart to remind you of your own freedom, that the only thing that binds you to your current reality is your own restraints.
So when you pull the temperance card, take a deep breath, stop pouting, and sit with your heart. Your outcome will arrive so much quicker when you prepare your heart to receive it. But more importantly, you will thrive in the present momeny as you learn to love the journey.
Wishing you temperance my friend,
Josephine
